In the history of mankind, there have been very few warriors as fierce and feared as the Mamluks: made from slaves, captured and sold as children to the caliphate rulers. Trained their entire lives to become the guardians of their masters, all the while sharing so little in common with them. These children were not from the place they were raised, looked so distinctly different from those they protected.
As the Golden Horde rained terror across the European steppe, they kidnapped thousands. They made a fortune selling them in the Baghdad market, before eventually burning the city to the ground. They came in wagons filled, to be auctioned. For those that were lucky, as lucky as a orphaned, kidnapped child could be, the home they found were not with their new masters, but with other children like them, to be trained at The Citadel.
